Setting aside the white-hot irony of this statement, Megan Garber makes some interesting points about the evolution from book-as-final-product to book-as-kickoff-for-publicity-tour. But really, aren’t there better ways of disseminating a book’s ideas than a TED talk? Like, for example, serious reviews? Critics have been doing the work of distilling and dissecting the ideas contained in books for a while now. And reading a review (or two) might be more illuminating than watching any number of Q&As on YouTube.
